Warrant Arrest
Stevens Creek Boulevard near San Tomas Expressway
An officer observed a male subject pushing a disabled vehicle on an eastbound Stevens Creek Boulevard near San Tomas Expressway. The officer provided traffic control and assisted the subject in moving his vehicle out of the roadway. A subsequent Records check revealed the subject had three outstanding warrants out of Santa Clara. The subject was issued Notice to Appear paperwork and released at the scene.

Vehicle Theft
1500 Block of Los Padres Boulevard
Officers were dispatched to the area of Bowers Avenue and Cabrillo Avenue on the report of a reckless driver. The reporting party provided the license plate to Dispatchers who identified the vehicle as stolen. Units were unable to locate the vehicle.

Approximately 30 minutes later, an officer spotted a vehicle matching the description of the reckless driver in a business parking lot at Los Padres Boulevard and El Camino Real. When the male subject saw the officer, he fled on food. The subject was apprehended inside Smart and Final on El Camino Real. He displayed objective symptoms of being under the influence of a controlled substance and was in possession of drug paraphernalia. A Records check revealed the subject had three warrants out of Santa Cruz County and one warrant from Santa Clara County. He was transported to the County jail.

Warrant Arrest – Felony
1700 Block of El Camino Real
An officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop for illegally tinted windows and no license plates. The male driver was on parole, had a $25,000 warrant from Yuba County and was in possession of a controlled substance. The male passenger had a $10,000 warrant out of Contra Costa County. A search of the vehicle revealed a large amount of Enfamil with scratched off tags, a commonly stolen item. Both suspects were arrested and transported to County jail.

Residential Burglary
3200 Block of Pruneridge Avenue
An unknown suspect(s) broke the window of a home’s sliding glass door, lured the residents’ dog into the garage and stole various items from the home. The suspect(s) remain at large.

3500 Block of El Camino Real
An officer was dispatched to the 3500 block of El Camino Real on the report of a male subject attempting to pass counterfeit money at a motel’s front desk. A subject attempted to pay for a motel room using two counterfeit $20 dollar bills. When confronted by staff, he attempted to grab them back and destroy them. The police arrived on scene prior to the suspect leaving, and he was later arrested. The suspect was also on active parole. A parole hold was granted.

Petty Theft
3000 Block of Stevens Creek Boulevard
An officer was dispatched to Macy's Men’s on the 3000 block of Stevens Creek Boulevard on the report of two subjects in custody for shoplifting. According to Macy’s Loss Prevention Detective, one juvenile male suspect and one adult male suspect concealed clothing items and left the store without paying. The Juvenile suspect caused $136.00 worth of damage to clothing and stole $216.96 worth of clothing that was recovered. Macy's requested prosecution and both suspects were cited and released. The juvenile was released to his mother.

NOTE: Santa Clara Police Department and Agents from the California Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) completed a special operation to check licensed premises that sell alcohol. The primary objective of the project is to educate licensees about the various ways they can participate in reducing alcohol-related crimes such as sales to underage and obviously intoxicated persons.

Driving Under the Influence
Aldo Avenue and Woodward Avenue
An officer observed a male driver on eastbound Aldo Avenue driving in an unsafe manner. Upon contact with the suspect, the officer noticed a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. The suspect failed to satisfactorily perform the field sobriety tests. He was arrested and transported to Santa Clara Police Department’s temporary holding facility.

Hit and Run – Felony
3700 Flora Vista Avenue
Officers were dispatched to a hit and run collision in front of the Department of Motor Vehicles on Flora Vista Avenue. The male suspect struck the victim’s vehicle on the passenger side when the victim attempted to turn into a driveway causing significant damage to both vehicles. A witness followed the suspect back to his Sunnyvale residence and called the police.

The suspect exhibited objective symptoms of alcohol intoxication and he failed to satisfactorily perform the field sobriety tests. He was arrested and transported to the County jail.
