General Police Testing Dates for Recruit and/or Lateral Officers
The Santa Clara Police Department is hiring for the position of Recruit Police Officer and Police Officer (Lateral Officers).
Phase 2
Application Deadline: April 16, 2013 4:00pm
Mandatory Orientation: April 24, 2013 6:00pm
Orals Exams: Week of May 6, 2013
Phase 3
Application Deadline: June 19, 2013 4:00pm
Mandatory Orientation: July 18, 2013 6:00pm
Orals Exams: Week of July 28, 2013

To begin the application / testing process for the position of Police Officer (or Recruit Police Officer) the following must be met:
- You must meet the requirements as outlined within the job announcement for Recruit Police Officer or Police Officer (depending upon which is applicable to your application).
- You must pass the POST Public Safety Officer written examination with a “t-score” of 50 or above and attach verification of such with your City employment application. Your test must have been taken within the previous 6 months from the time of application (see instructions below for testing information).
- You must complete and submit a City employment application as outlined within the listed guidelines. Your application and POST t-score verification must be sent to Human Resources, at 1500 Warburton Avenue, Santa Clara, CA 95050 (or via fax 408-247-JOBS).
Upon completion of these steps, you will be contacted with further details regarding your progression within the process.
Written Examination Instructions:
The South Bay Regional Public Safety Training Consortium currently administers the POST Public Safety Officer Written Examination (as well as qualifying WSTB physical ability test) on a continual basis. The exam is administered at The Academy, at Evergreen Valley College in San Jose. For further information regarding the testing location and availability, please visit: theacademy.ca.gov
Orientation Class for Police Officer Applicants
You must RSVP to attend this class. Please email SCPDRecruiting@santaclaraca.gov . This class will be held at the Police Department. For more information, see Orientation.

Crossing Guards
