Captain Wahid Kazem was hired as a Santa Clara Police Officer in 1997. As an Officer, Wahid worked as a Field Training Officer, SWAT Team member, Peer Support Team member, and assaults Detective.
He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in September of 2002. He worked in the Field Operations Division as patrol team supervisor before transferring back to the Investigative Services Division, where he initially worked as a property crimes investigator. He later became a lead person's crimes investigator working primarily homicide and assault cases.
In October of 2008, Wahid was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. He returned to the Field Operations Division, where he worked as a Watch Commander and supervised the department's field training program. In March of 2011, Wahid was transferred to the Investigative Services Division, where he served as the Acting Division Commander. In November, 2012, Wahid was promoted to Captain, and is now the Field Operations Division Commander. In July, 2015, Wahid transferred to the Services Division as Commander.
Wahid has a Bachelor's and Master's Degree from San Jose State University. He is also a graduate of the prestigious FBI National Academy.
