Bios - Captain Paul Kofman

Captain Paul Kofman has proudly served the City of Santa Clara for 28 years. Paul was hired after graduating San Jose State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Administration of Justice.
Captain Kofman began his career as a patrol officer and soon became a Field Training Officer. He was selected as a member of the police department’s Special Response Team and worked his way from a perimeter position to the entry team.
Paul worked as a Motor Officer for five years prior to being promoted to Sergeant in 1997. As a Sergeant, he supervised in both the Patrol and Investigations Divisions. He successfully completed the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute, and continued in a supervisory capacity on S.R.T. One of his fondest memories is being a member of the team that won the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Best in the West competition in 1997.
In 2002, Paul was promoted to Lieutenant and served in all three divisions. His duties included, Traffic, Patrol, Investigations, and Services. He spent over three years in the Services Division, and worked closely with Dispatch and Technical Services while the new Dispatch Center was built.
Paul was promoted to Captain in June, 2010, about the time the Dispatch Center was completed and is serving as the Patrol Captain. Paul is a graduate of the FBI’s National Academy.
